benches Ignite Anxiety Anthem with “Kill The Lights” + Announce EP & West Coast Tour

San Diego rockers benches ignite their new EP Kill The Lights with its blazing title track. Born in one furious, late-night session, “Kill The Lights” fuses cinematic guitar swells, heartbeat bass, and haunting vocals into a glimpse of anxiety in overdrive—“All the years fade from my mind…It’s just a fantasy,” its chorus insists. Mixed by GRAMMY®-nominee Martin Cooke, the song opens a raw, four-song journey out May 23.
“Fear is the engine here,” says frontman Anson Kelley. “This track is my worst-case scenario on repeat—driving faster to escape the ghost in the rearview. But in that panic, you find something powerful to write about.”
Fresh off a support tour with Inhaler, benches hit the road again this spring. They’ll debut “Kill The Lights” live at San Diego’s Wonderfront Festival before heading up the West Coast with Pleasure Pill—and later storming Lollapalooza’s stages.
