Triathalon Announces New Album ‘Funeral Music’, Shares Explosive New Single “DOWN”

New York’s genre-blurring trio Triathalon (Adam Intrator, Chad Chilton, Hunter Jayne) returns with “DOWN”, a dynamic new single and video from their upcoming album Funeral Music, out May 16 on Lex Records.
Following the buzzy success of 90s-tinged lead single “RIP”—which landed on major Spotify playlists and radio rotation from Sirius XMU to KEXP—“DOWN” dives into early 2010s bedroom pop nostalgia, flipping a mellow demo into a high-voltage anthem with late-stage 80s-metal guitar and a refreshed tempo shift. “It went from sleepy to electric,” says Intrator.
“DOWN” explores the grief of losing someone who once felt permanent in your life—an emotional pivot echoed in its cinematic video directed by Jared Malik Royal.
Funeral Music is Triathalon’s fifth album and their most vulnerable yet—a concept record born from the idea of imagining what songs they’d want played at their own memorials. The result is a raw, stripped-back collection shaped by first-take vocals, live drums, and hauntingly minimal textures—crafted over two years in bedrooms and studios alike.
Play this one loud. Play it forever. Play it at your funeral. Check out “Down” below!
