Toro y Moi New Album ‘Hole Erth’ Coming + “Heaven” Collaboration with Kevin Abstract and Fall Tour Dates
Toro y Moi has released two new tracks, “Hollywood” featuring Ben Gibbard and “CD-R,” from his upcoming album Hole Erth, set for release on September 6th. These tracks join the previously-released “Heaven” featuring Kevin Abstract and Lev, as well as the lead single “Tuesday,” showcasing the distinctive world of Hole Erth, Toro y Moi’s boldest musical shift yet in a career known for constant reinvention.
“Heaven” opens with an ethereal hum and dreamy intro that quickly transitions into a rich tapestry of perfectly tuned vocals and poignant lyrics. Kevin Abstract’s contribution adds a layer of introspective depth, perfectly complementing Bear’s signature style. Lev’s presence further enriches the track, making it a collaborative effort that pushes boundaries while staying true to Toro y Moi’s eclectic roots.
“Hollywood” sees Chaz Bear teaming up with Ben Gibbard (Death Cab For Cutie, The Postal Service) to deliver a melancholic track about feeling trapped in the titular Los Angeles neighborhood. Bear explains, “I’ve admired Ben’s music for a long time, and it felt right to include him on this record. The album’s themes of angst and nostalgia made ‘Hollywood’ a perfect match.”
The B-side, “CD-R,” reflects on Toro y Moi’s early days, with Bear noting, “‘CD-R’ pays tribute to the era before playlisting and streaming, when curation was driven by people, not algorithms.” Hole Erth blends anthemic pop-punk with autotuned, melancholic rap, creating a body of work that resonates with contemporary sounds while drawing on Bear’s longstanding musical influences, from his punk and emo roots to his production work with major modern rap artists.
In support of the album, Toro y Moi will embark on a major tour this fall, including performances at Thing Fest in Seattle and The Best Day Ever Festival in Aminé’s hometown. Post-album release, he will headline shows at Hollywood Forever in Los Angeles, The Knockdown Center in New York, and The Greek Theatre in Berkeley. He will also perform at III Points Festival in Miami and A Big Beautiful Block Party in Las Vegas.
