Member and yet still live in their essence. After ten years as a band, Star Rover spent a day in the studio with no agenda, no material, and no expectations, this time featuring the great Kenny Wollesen on percussion and electronics.
Following the recent release of ‘LATRALA’ via Otherly Love, Wollesen continues to uphold his reputation as a master collaborator. The Star Rover album Perfect Weirdo is set to release on May 24th via Otherly Love. Kenny, a hero to the duo and one of their earliest fans, used to join them in their early days and even covered the title track of their first record at his own shows.

Also featured on many tracks is Brazilian bass player and composer Ricardo Dias Gomes, who collaborated with them on their third record, *This Whole Emptiness*. The perfect collaborators for an unlikely album that began with a half-day of improvisations at Figure 8 Studios in Brooklyn with the wonderfully open-minded Lily Wen. Initially not intended to be a Star Rover record, Jeremy Gustin took the tracks to his home studio and began to work. With Kenny and Will on tour, Gustin found himself consumed with piecing these improvisations together, adding and subtracting sounds.
Over time, it became clear that this was indeed a Star Rover record. All four of Star Rover’s records blend post-punk, noise rock, free jazz, Americana, and Brazilian influences. Star Rover has matured, but they haven’t lost their edge or their love of melody and tone.
