Shrunken Elvis is the sound of intuition at full volume—a Nashville-based trio built on long drives through Europe, fireside jam sessions, and a shared obsession with genre-bending sonic exploration. Comprised of pedal steel wizard Spencer Cullum (Angel Olsen, Billy Strings), DIY scene alum Sean Thompson (Promised Land Sound, Margo Price), and ambient-jazz alchemist Rich Ruth (Third Man Records), the group defies Music City’s norms with lush, immersive instrumentals that blend kosmische, fusion, ambient, and post-rock.

Their self-titled debut album, Shrunken Elvis, arrives September 5 via Western Vinyl, led by the hypnotic first single “An Old Outlet”—a swirling, exploratory track that taps into the trio’s wide-reaching influences, from Alice Coltrane and Michael Rother to ECM artwork and Kurosawa films.

Born on a 2022 European tour in a cramped VW Passat and finished in a Nashville shed, the album captures a rare chemistry—three masterful musicians pushing boundaries not to impress, but to feel. No egos, no fixed agenda—just raw, intuitive collaboration.
