Our Girl Unveils Anthem of Resilience with New Album ‘The Good Kind’
Our Girl has delivered a vibrant indie-rock gem with “Who Do You Love,” the latest single from their eagerly awaited new album, The Good Kind, released today via Bella Union. With singer and guitarist Soph Nathan at the helm, the song pulses with a raw, reflective energy. Nathan explains, “It was only through celebrating others and wanting to show them how much they deserve that I found confidence in my own sexuality. Writing this song let me reflect on my teenage ‘coming out’ and the journey of self-acceptance since then. Like much of the album, it began in a dark place but evolved into a celebration.”
Early singles, including the title track “The Good Kind” with a rhythmic lift from Warpaint’s Stella Mozgawa, have drawn praise across Women That Rock, Northern Transmissions, Guitar Girl Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, CLASH, DORK, and more. The Good Kind captures an overarching sense of triumph over adversity, tracing themes of sexuality, community, and resilience. The album features Our Girl’s signature blend of heavy, layered guitars, punchy hooks, and Nathan’s intimate, expressive vocals.
Recorded at the iconic Rockfield Studios with production from alt-rock luminary John Parish (PJ Harvey, Sparklehorse), Fern Ford (The Big Moon, Prima Queen), and Nathan herself, this album reflects Our Girl’s journey from struggle to self-discovery. Drummer Lauren Wilson shares, “A lot of the songs are about transforming setbacks into strengths.” Brimming with warmth and honesty, The Good Kind is a testament to choosing resilience, recommitting to what matters, and embracing the hard-won path to joy.
