Moses Sumney has released Sophcore, his first collection of original music since the acclaimed double album græ in 2020. The EP includes the previously released singles “Vintage” and “Gold Coast,” which were highlighted by The New York Times as notable tracks in their Playlist. Sophcore marks a shift in Sumney’s musical style, featuring more pronounced R&B influences while maintaining his signature innovative songwriting and unique vocal style.
In conjunction with the EP’s release, Sumney has announced a series of live performances in cities including Atlanta, Raleigh, Los Angeles, New York, and London.
Describing the new project, Sumney says, “Sophcore explores the intersections of sensuality and intuition, esotericism and populism, deep emotion, and enjoyment. It delves into subterranean rhythms, bass, and drums, creating music that moves both the hips and the heart.”
The release of Sophcore comes just after Sumney was announced as the new face of Rabanne’s Million Gold fragrance. This follows a busy summer in which he starred in the A24 film MaXXXine, directed by Ti West and featuring a star-studded cast including Mia Goth, Kevin Bacon, and Halsey.
Listen to Sophcore now and stay tuned for more updates from Moses Sumney.
