Frankie Cosmos Announce New Album Different Talking + Share Whimsical “Vanity” Video

Frankie Cosmos is back with their sixth studio album, Different Talking, out June 27 via Sub Pop. The band also dropped the whimsical and heartfelt video for lead single “Vanity”, directed by Greta Kline and shot with bandmate Alex Bailey—featuring candid moments and playful vibes that echo the song’s emotional tug-of-war.
This marks the first time the band—now composed of Kline, Bailey, Katie Von Schleicher, and Hugo Stanley—recorded entirely without an outside producer. The result is an album shaped by total trust and collaborative instinct. “We’d go to any length to get Greta’s songs right,” says Von Schleicher, “and she gives us the freedom to do it.”
“Vanity,” written during a 6.5-mile walk across NYC, captures Kline’s existential reflections in motion—childhood vs. adulthood, the personal vs. the cosmic, smallness vs. significance. It’s quintessential Frankie Cosmos: quietly powerful, endlessly sincere, and refreshingly offbeat.
Different Talking is set to be one of their most intimate and self-defined records yet.
