For A.M. Architect, music is more than sound—it’s an immersive experience. The electronic duo, comprised of longtime collaborators Diego Chavez and Daniel Stanush, transforms concerts into interactive events, where real-time visuals respond dynamically to their music using TouchDesigner. “It’s fun to see people at play,” says Chavez, capturing the duo’s playful yet cutting-edge ethos.
Their upcoming album Avenir, out February 7, 2025, reflects this multimedia spirit, blending ambient electronica with experimental production. The single “Hydra” epitomizes the duo’s sonic evolution, fusing soulful vocals and polyrhythmic beats with lush synths reminiscent of Boards of Canada. The accompanying video—driven by audio-reactive visuals—explores how technology shapes identity, mirroring the album’s themes of perception and time.
The duo spent four years crafting Avenir remotely, exchanging files between Sacramento and San Antonio. Stanush contributed melodies on guitar, bass, and Rhodes piano, while Chavez manipulated tracks using Ableton, incorporating tools like Monome Norns and machine learning to push their creative boundaries. Moving beyond their earlier, hip-hop-influenced work, Avenir marks a shift toward atmospheric electronica, blending nostalgia with forward-thinking soundscapes.
Having started as a side project in 2004, Chavez and Stanush have grown A.M. Architect into a multidisciplinary collaboration, evolving through releases like Color Field (2017) and Chroma Variants (2019). With Avenir—a title meaning “the future”—the duo steps into a new phase, delivering music that feels both timeless and unmoored, while bringing listeners into a richly immersive world where sound, art, and technology converge.
