Today marks Hot Chip’s inaugural appearance on NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. The renowned British synthpop ensemble, featuring Alexis Taylor (vocals, guitar, keyboard), Joe Goddard (vocals, keyboard), Owen Clarke (keyboard), Rob Smoughton (vocals, guitar), Leo Taylor (drums), and Jonny Lam (pedal steel guitar), delivered a captivating set of four beloved tracks spanning their discography. They performed “Over and Over” and “And I Was A Boy From School” from their 2006 Mercury Prize-nominated album The Warning, the Grammy-nominated “Ready for the Floor” from 2008’s Made in the Dark, and the poignant “Look At Where We Are” from 2012’s critically acclaimed In Our Head. NPR noted, “Although it was Hot Chip’s first Tiny Desk visit, their performance had the feel of a homecoming, revisiting the instruments with which they originally crafted their distinctive, playful sound.”
