Tough Blues: Jack Berry – “Bad Dog”
Jack Berry
“Bad Dog”
Mean Machine
The blues have to be sung like the singer means it. Jack Berry means it. He sings like his soul is being tortured. Amazing vocal chords. Amazing guitar work. This is how the blues should sound. Sometimes, he reminds me of a young Eric Clapton or Jack Bruce (that whole Cream era). In his own words, “Sharp like a razor; steady like a train”. Also, his influences are whiskey and women, in that order. This is a man to be reckoned with. His music stacks up to Cream, the ultimate complement.
