Timbeau describes his sound simply as pop, but it’s far from conventional. His music is a distinctive fusion of synthpop, Neue Deutsche Welle, and indie post-punk, all laced with infectious disco influences. As a multi-instrumentalist, Timbeau crafts intimate, authentic songs that tackle heavy topics like mental health and masculinity with a sense of humor and accessibility.
Singing in German, he embraces the quirky nuances of the language, intentionally playing with the “cringe” factor to add a unique charm to his lyrics. A true boundary-pusher, Timbeau also places a strong emphasis on the visual aspects of his art, evident in the meticulous attention to detail in his music videos.
After the success of his debut album *Wundersam*, Timbeau’s journey evolved from DIY bedroom pop to polished studio work with a full band. His upcoming sophomore album *Sensitiv*, set to release in January 2025, promises to expand on that growth.
Live, Timbeau (aka Tim Bohner) brings his talents to the stage as both drummer and vocalist, performing alongside Florian Schirmer on keys, Hannes Scherf on bass, and Marius Schwingel on guitar, delivering a dynamic and visually captivating performance. Check out “Jammertal” below:
