The New Wedding Song: Sheldon Clark – “One Last Morning”
Sheldon Clark
“One Last Morning”
Words & Sound
Due to a competition among fellow songwriters, Sheldon Clark has written one the best wedding songs I’ve ever heard. True to Sheldon’s literary and musical influences, his single, “Our Last Morning,” is based on chords from Pachebel’s Canon in D major, with a chorus incorporating the lyrics, “slowly then all at once,” a quote from the novel, The Fault in Our Stars, by John Green. You cannot get much more romantic than that without being sappy. Clark’s stripped down style reminds me of Bonnie “Prince” Billy or Father John Misty. Tremendous. If I get married again, this is the song I’m using.
