9. The War On Drugs – I Don’t Live Here Anymore
Adam Granduciel and company bring a more joyous side to their music with an 80s synth edge and expansive sounds. Their most recent release employs even sharper melodies.
8. Sam Evian – Time To Melt
Modern psychedelia with some really interesting and unique sounds that immediately caught our attention. Sam Evian is an NYC-based instrumentalist and producer and his new album is definitely worth a listen. SEE “Time To Melt” below:
7. Japanese Breakfast – Jubilee
Japanese Breakfast’s Michelle Zauner said about the album, “After spending the last five years writing about grief, I wanted our follow up to be about joy” and that’s exactly what they deliver in this masterpiece. SEE “Savage Good Boy” below:
6. Snail Mail – Valentine
Lindsey Jordan’s second album documents love in all stages and it’s f’ing brilliant. She takes on a larger and poppier sound while keeping her songwriting dazzlingly sharp and passionate.
5. King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard – Butterfly 3000
Happy music for the masses. Finely-constructed sprawl of synth programming and MIDI sequences on the band’s 18th album.
4. Jazmine Sullivan – Heaux Tales
An incredible voice mixed with tales of love and sex make for a great album. Check out “Pick Up Your Feelings” below:
3. Pond – 9
Aussie band’s 9th album and probably one of their greatest pieces of funk-psychedelic rock yet. SEE “America’s Cup” below:
2. Elton John – The Lockdown Sessions
The 5th collaborative effort by Sir Elton John written during the covid-19 lockdown when he was forced to halt his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour. The magic and passion runs wild through each track with a very talented group of artists.
1. The Beatles – Let It Be (Reissue)
Who else could claim this spot? I mean it is a reissue but a marvelous reissue full of some new material, demos, alternative versions, and of course the FILM edited by Peter Jackson.
