Smooth Jazz: Lisa Richards – “Frank Sinatra”

Lisa Richards

“Frank Sinatra”

A Light From The Other Side

What beautiful music Lisa Richards makes.  She has a voice that is part Ricki Lee Jones, part Josephine Baker (yeah, she made some recordings), and all light, jazzy, beautiful sounding.  Richards has spent the last 20 years in the US, and she is now heading back to Australia; our loss, Australia’s gain. Richards’ voice is that mellow cup of coffee in an outdoor café in Paris, that morning sun peaking through your window, that last gasp of the day when the stars start to come out.  I know Sinatra would love her voice.  She is so unique in this time and age.  She does hearken back to beatniks and bongos while pointing the way to the future.  I love this voice.  Listen: you will fall yourself.
