SEE: Indie Pop | Walt Disco – “Pearl”
Glasgow-based band WALT DISCO releases their latest single, “Pearl,” through Lucky Number. This marks their first new composition since their 2022 debut album, Unlearning. The single, awaited with anticipation, was penned and produced across Glasgow and Austin, Texas’ Pearl Street Co-Op, a location that inspired the band during their time at SXSW. Accompanying “Pearl” is a visually striking music video featuring the band’s performance within a music box, filmed at the Paisley Methodist Central Hall. Soon, WALT DISCO will commence an extensive two-month tour across the UK and Europe, opening for the electronic pop icons OMD. The tour schedule is available below.

Jack Martin, the band’s songwriter, shares insights into the song: “Pearl” reflects on the loneliness and sense of disconnection that comes with life on tour. The song delves into the physical and emotional distances that form when one is constantly on the road, leading to feelings of alienation. Despite these challenges, the chorus looks towards the future, accepting the chosen path of a musician’s life. The track is centered around a keyboard melody, initially introduced to the band at the Pearl Street Coop during SXSW.
