Sad World: Warhaus – “Bruxelles”
Warhaus
“Bruxelles”
We Fucked A Flame Into Being
Warhaus is the solo project of Maarten Delvodere, lead singer of Balthazar, in which he pours out his heart. This is beautiful, personal, sad music. Delvodere says that “Bruxelles” is:
Bruxelles ma belle. It’s a break-up song about leaving Brussels. I included tear-jerking violins to make it sound like heartache in its most grotesque form. The girl deserves no less.
I love Warhaus. The title of his new album, dropping in September, is a direct quote from Lady Chatterley’s Lover by DH Lawrence, a great, sad novel in its own right. I say listen to Warhaus, read Lawrence, get your sad on.
