Post Punk With A Twist: CO/NTRY – “Cash Out”

CO/NTRY is an adult-contemporary post-punk duo comprised of Newfoundland-born/Montreal-based artists Beaver Sheppard and David Whitten.  They changed their name from Country so that fans could actually google their site without coming up with one million downloads that didn’t had nothing to do with them.  Their music, on the other hand, is super unique.  Once you hear CO/NTRY, you are not going to confuse them with anyone else.  The music has a Echo and The Bunnymen/The Teardrop Explodes sound to it, but sounds like it is being sung by Sylvester or Hope Sanderval.  It really is a different sound.  The combo works, and works well.  This is a group who knows what they want, and they aren’t going to give a fuck who cares.  I love them.
