Pop With Attitude: Kaerhart – “Naked Drunk”
Kaerhart
“Naked Drunk”
Kaerhart
Anyone who writes a song with the chorus, “I feel like shit but I look incredible”, is my type of singer. I haven’t got this type of spine shivers since I heard “Video Games” by Lana del Rey. This really is the next big thing; as big as Lorde and del Rey. Let’s put it this way: Kaerhart sounds like a more worldly Lorde crossed with a more poppy del Rey. This is music to party with; this is the song for when you’ve overpartied Friday night, yet get dressed to the T’s on Saturday night, not letting the ‘haters’ know you are less than fabulous. When I was hitting the gay club scene, this is how my Saturdays were. Kaerhart labels her music dark anthemic pop, and she is right. Trained as a classical pianist since age 6, the budding artist grew up listening to rock legends, such as Led Zeppelin, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix and Muddy Waters. She picked up the guitar at age 15 and was the lead guitarist in various rock and blues bands. Tired of being just the guitar player with mystique, she struck out on her own, teaching herself how to sing and produce in just one summer. She teamed up with a prodigy classical composer, Stephen Feigenbaum, and created her own brand of pop music. Honestly, keep your eye out for this woman. She’s an asskicker, beautiful, with talent galore.
