Chicago’s post-punk trio Plum is gearing up to make a significant impact with their debut album, ‘Can’t Hold On To It’, scheduled for release on August 30th across streaming and physical formats. The album promises a vibrant mix of sounds, weaving together the upbeat rhythms of New Wave and No Wave, the experimental edge of Krautrock, and the gritty charm of Indie Sleaze. Plum’s music is characterized by danceable grooves, dissonant guitar riffs, and melodic basslines that create a uniquely compelling listening experience.
Plum has built a dedicated following through their electrifying live performances, sharing the stage with iconic acts like Brainiac, Acid Mothers Temple, and Keiji Haino, as well as local Chicago favorites Ganser and No Men. Their energetic shows culminated in a 10-date tour in Japan last December, further solidifying their reputation as a must-see live band.
Ahead of the full album release, Plum has dropped two singles: the title track “Can’t Hold On To It” and “Anxiety,” both available on streaming platforms. The accompanying music video for “Anxiety,” directed by Zack Moser, brilliantly captures the band’s signature blend of nervous energy and absurdism, offering a tantalizing glimpse of what’s to come on the full LP.
