New Americana: Mink’s Miracle Medicine – “Page Of You”
Mink’s Miracle Medicine
“Page Of Me”
Pyramid Theory
Coming from my backyard, Harper’s Valley, WV, Mink’s Miracle Medicine has managed to change the whole sound of Americana/country music just by the shear honesty of their music. Mink’s Miracle Medicine consists of Melissa Wright (vocals, guitar) and Daniel Zezeski (drums, vocals), and the album had its birth after a car breakdown in Pittsburgh (what a great place to breakdown.) At times sounding like mid-Fleetwood Mac, at other times like the Breeders, Mink’s Miracle Medicine sounds just like themselves. There is something so uplifting about them. I love their lyrics. Read the example below. They really need to come back to Pittsburgh. This medicine is good for you.
Late, night, could be the latest of your life
Can I borrow your light?
Can I borrow your
Track suit? Bongs and boots?
Can I borrow you? Can I borrow you?
Cause I’m digging deeper but nothing’s coming out
Our condensation’s repossessing condensation coming from your mouth
Well I understand I’ve got to write my own damn book
So I’ll make a copy of your house key
And place it in the page of me
You took.
Well eighteen, it’s a mystery to me
What kind of machine?
A time machine.
We’ve got the same routes
And they’ve got, gables and rooves
While you’re out searching for truth
I’m out there looking for you
Cause I’m digging deeper but nothing’s coming out
Our condensation’s repossessing condensation coming from your mouth
Well I understand I’ve got to write my own damn book
So I’ll make a copy of your house key
And place it in the page of me
You took.
We found a hubcab in a ditch by the road.
Placed it on a fence post and we’ll forget about it as we go.
Cause I’m digging deeper but nothing’s coming out
Our condensation’s repossessing condensation coming from your mouth
Well I understand I’ve got to write my own damn book
So I’ll make a copy of your house key
And place it in the page of me
You took.
