Magic Man’s Debut Album Before The Waves
Magic Man has released their Columbia Records new album, Before The Waves, available now at digital and physical retailers. The infectious album, which GQ Magazine declared “alt joy,” infiltrated the Top 5 Alternative Album Chart. Full of solid electric beats, synth-pop and fuzzy vocals, Before The Waves is proving itself to be a summer staple.
Prior to releasing Before the Waves in stores, Magic Man treated their fans to a sneak peek with a week-long album stream on HypeM, where it received over 100,000 streams.
The album, produced by Alex Aldi (Passion Pit, Holy Ghost!), who also worked with the band on last year’s You Are Here EP, has already garnered critical buzz out of the gate, with positive mentions from publications such as GQ, Esquire, Nylon, Substream Press and Boston Herald amongst many others.
Among the 12 tracks is their first single “Paris,” which Rolling Stone compares to “the electric-meets-electronic sound of the Postal Service…” “Paris” has been ranking highly on SIRIUS XM’s Alt Nation charts, spending two weeks in the #1 position on their Alt-18 Countdown of most requested songs. “Out Of Mind” has recently been added SIRIUS XM’s Alt Nation.
Magic Man is celebrating the release of Before The Waves with a Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) at 4:00 pm EST on Wednesday, July 9th. Fans can participate online here: http://smarturl.it/MagicManAMA. Additionally, the band, known for their fun live performances and appearances at festivals such as Firefly, will perform a free, fan driven show in Los Angeles at The Grove as part of The Grove’s 2014 Summer Stage Series.
Magic Man also kicked off their tour on July 8 in San Diego, and are making stops along the West Coast, including their sold-out show at Los Angeles’ famed Troubadour (see below for full itinerary). After their headlining dates, the band will join Panic! At The Disco and Walk The Moon on The Gospel Tour for duration of the summer.
