Wild Cub premiered a remix of their rising single “Thunder Clatter” by Twin Shadow today via Urban Outfitters’ Music Mondays blog, and the track can be streamed here: http://blog.urbanoutfitters.com/blog/music_monday_november_4_2013. Fans can also now head to the band’s website, www.wildcubmusic.com, for a free download of the remix. “Thunder Clatter (Twin Shadow Remix)” will be included on an upcoming ‘Thunder Clatter’ deluxe single, which will also include an additional remix by Small Black, and will be released on December 10th, 2013 via Mom+Pop. Wild Cub’s debut album Youth, featuring “Thunder Clatter,” will now see a wide release through the label on January 21, 2014 and includes two bonus tracks, “Blacktide” and “Lies.”
Following standout performances last month at the Austin City Limits Festival, which led Austin Town Hall to declare “…they were PERFECT. Tight jams that suited the atmosphere…”, and the CMJ Music Marathon (“Nashville based band Wild Cub brought their vintage dance-rock to CMJ and had me instantly hooked from beginning to end…” – We All Want Something To Shout For), Wild Cub will play next this Saturday, November 9th at The Masquerade in Atlanta, GA supporting The Dismemberment Plan. Next month, the band is confirmed for CD102.5’s Holiday Show at the LC Pavilion in Columbus, OH on December 12th. A current itinerary is below and more dates, including additional radio shows, will be announced soon.
Led by songwriter/composer Keegan DeWitt and multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Bullock, Wild Cub has had an ascendant 18 months: performing at festivals including SXSW, Hangout Music Fest, and Lollapalooza; gaining radio airplay on stations including SiriusXM’s Alt Nation, KEXP, WXPN (Philadelphia, PA) and CD102.5 (Columbus, OH); and earning press attention from Entertainment Weekly (which called “Thunder Clatter” “clattering, joyful noise”), InterviewMagazine.com, MTV Hive, Noisey, NylonMag.com, Paste, Pure Volume, RollingStone.com, SPIN.com, and The Wall Street Journal’s Speakeasy blog, among others. The originally self-released Youth is a collection of 13 captured moments, much like a found box of letters and photographs, that transitions seamlessly between electro-pop, tropical rhythms, and quiet washes of cinematic new wave reflection. This evocative, cinematic quality characterizes Wild Cub’s songs, influenced heavily by DeWitt’s extensive work in composing film scores, including 2013’s Academy Award-winning short documentary Inocente, 2013’s Sundance Audience Award for Best of NEXT winner This Is Martin Bonner, and 2010’s Cold Weather.
Wild Cub is: Keegan DeWitt (vocals/guitar), Jeremy Bullock (guitar/synths), Dabney Morris (drums), Harry West (bass), and Eric Wilson (keys/synths).
