It’s alarming how charming they can be!
Apparently inspired by relationship issues, the whole of the EP seems to take place in the same moment: a particularly horrible “morning after.” Sticking to their usual MO, Best Coast masks the more dramatic emotional context of their songs with lo-fi beach rock sonic flavors, rather than wallowing. I was speaking to a colleague recently who mentioned that…sometimes the best way to say something is in the simplest terms possible. BC has mastered this. It’s far more attractive to cast your misery in major chords.
