Freddie Gibbs, the multi-hyphenate rapper, actor, and underground icon, has returned in true Halloween spirit with the surprise release of his highly anticipated album, You Only Die 1nce. Dropped via ESGN Records / AWAL, this project marks Gibbs’ first new music since his show-stealing verse on Kanye West’s Vultures, where he was widely acclaimed for delivering the best bars on the album. Self-produced alongside Ben “Lambo” Lambert, Norva Denton, and Pops, You Only Die 1nce is Gibbs’ first full-length since 2022’s $oul $old $eparately.
Accompanying the album’s release, Gibbs unveils a self-directed music video for “On The Set,” crafted with Lambert and Harley Astorga. This gritty visual and sonic experience showcases Gibbs at his rawest, delivering uncompromising, hard-hitting verses over dark, bass-heavy production. You Only Die 1nce sees the “gangsta Gibbs” persona wrestling with inner demons, his sharp lyricism painting vivid portraits of pain and power.
With cover art by comic book legend Mike “Deadly Mike” Del Mundo, the album visually and sonically nods to horror, as Gibbs weaves his signature humor into the darkness, keeping it raw and unfiltered. You Only Die 1nce is Freddie Gibbs at his most haunting and introspective, blending grim realities with a bit of wit that only he can deliver.
