Cold Specks – Bodies At Bay
Cold Specks
“Bodies At Bay”
Neuroplasticity
Cold Speck, aka Al Spx, is back with a vengeance after a two year break filled with a round the world tour, guest starring with various people on their music including Herbie Hancock and performing at Joni Mitchell’s 70th birthday show, and writing music. Specks said some of the work was composed in Glastonbury. She says, “that’s a pretty fucked up place”. The darkness and the moves of the music seems to reflect the strangeness of Stonehenge. The Canadian born singer has an unbelievably fluid blues voice that soars over the changing rhythms of this complex song. Sounding a little like Nina Simone, Specks cannot keep us waiting another two years, though the wait was worth. This is not your typical diva music. This is deep, dark, beautiful, swirling music that will send you to another place.
