Cleveland Soul/Rock: Thaddeus Anna Greene – “Heart Out”
Thaddeus Anna Greene
“Heart Out”
You want soulful chops and plenty of bluesy sass. Check out Thaddeus Anna Greene. They are a four-piece soul/rock group from Cleveland, Ohio (where else). With the use of psychedelic influenced guitar, boomy bass, and drums that demand rhythm and groove, they create a sound bed of heavy, provocative tone. Their three-part vocal harmony, subject matter, and the homage they pay to their influences supply a warm familiarly to the heavy hitters of soul/rock including Hendrix and Sly Stone. This group was founded by TJ Maclin (lead guitarist & frontman) who found solace in music at age 14, cutting his teeth on the likes of Jimi Hendrix, David Gilmour, and Jack White. He paired up with co-founder and drummer of the band, Anthony Foti. The band has grown with the addition of Ryan Augusta (rhythm guitar & vocals), and Matt DeRubertis (bass). Ohio has always been a mecca for soul bands, like the Ohio Players and Earth, Wind, and Fire. So coming from Cleveland is no surprise. I love this band. In a weird way, they also remind me of Lenny Kravitz and Living Colour. Get soulful with me.
