Beauty Under Pressure: Kyomi Hawley – “Miss You Love You”
Kiyomi Hawley
“Miss You Love You”
Meet You There
There is such a wistful beauty to Kiyomi’s voice. She reminds me of that honesty of Merrilee Rush (“Angel Of The Morning”). She is one of the most expressive singers I’ve heard, and her story is worthy of telling.
Kiyomi was born into a very musical family and music has always remained her main love. After being raised within the Unification Church, Kiyomi experienced the constant challenges of being confined and restricted. This has influenced her new EP, especially the title-track, “Meet You There”. Kiyomi still keeps a journal and has been long removed from the cult. She focuses her music on relating and comforting her audience, not shying away from raw lyrics that deal with issues such as school shootings, following your passions, staying true to yourself and finding your place in this world no matter what.
Kiyomi’s music is beautiful, strong, and uplifting. No wonder she has had such an online following. Listening to her music gives you such a rush of self-worth. I love this band.
