Amana Melome

“ICARUS” (the OPOLOPO Remix)

Lock And Key

What a smooth, jazzy voice. Melome sounds like Sade with a Latin American samba beat.  I love this sound.  ICARUS transports you on the wings of Melome’s voice to those smoky Argentine bars where the tango originated, or maybe a nice, smooth New Orleans jazz bar.  Amana’s passion for all types of music is evident in her Lock and Key EP; however, the Euro-Caribbean-American artist’s roots are in jazz, having had her grandfather Jimmy Woode record with such greats as Duke Ellington and Ella Fitzgerald.   I can see her singing with Ellington, maybe in one of those Harlem bars.  I love her voice so much.
