“Albert Played The Euphonium”

Blue House is definitely one of the most intriguing bands since They Might Be Giants and XTC.  The band, comprised of James Howard and Ursula Russell, makes music that is subtle, elliptical, and ambiguous – rarely an obvious beast. They present us with a world of haunted pop — songs about people just departed, places just left, and events just witnessed.  They really are the definition of wistful.  The Portuguese have a word for is – Saudade – Melancholic longing or nostalgia for a person, place or thing that is far away from you. Blue House make music that bring about Saudade.
