“Ocean Blue”

Seventeen year old Gunnar Gehl has released a new single that proves that there is still life in pop music, and a beautiful song is a beautiful song forever.  In fact, in the world as it is now, we truly need more love songs, as Paul McCartney would say.  And “Ocean Blue” by Gehl is good enough to be considered a McCartney song (I know, blasphemy).  Think about it:  Gehl has a wonderful voice; his poetry is strong and his feelings romantic without being saccharine; he has, in my book, actually outdone his hero, John Mayer, but producing a perfect love song to what may have been without the attitude of, “too bad, girl, you missed the best time”.  No, this song is about innocence, and right now, we need that. As Gunnar himself says about the song (and I forgive for using the phrase ‘dope’ lol):

“I chose this song as my first single because it’s a song my fans can sing along with me, and makes me ‘feel’ the best. I like to tell something that’s true to me so that when I sing it 100 times, it’s always real.  I’ve always loved the ocean, and although some might think the song is about the ocean, it really is about the eyes of this girl I’ll probably never see again, Yeah I wished I would have said something to her, but hey it made for a dope song. I have really amazing fans and I can’t wait for them to sing along to this fun song.”
