    “Chichen”

From the first chords, you know you are in another world, a world of sunlight and shadows, supernatural and very natural, today, tomorrow, and yesterday.  IOLA is the musical identity of Carey Sveen, a native of Norway, who immigrated to the US when she was young. Reminding me of the best of Kate Bush and Enya, The LP blends Sveen’s diverse background, including the influence of growing up in a small, religious-conservative town and her practices in Transcendental Meditation.  This is music for a new age, for relaxation, for meditation.  I feel so peaceful after hearing IOLA.  Her music makes the whole world look different.  For example, her photo in front of the decaying buildings make you see those buildings in a completely different light.
