No Joy

“Califone”

Creep

I LOVE THIS.  No Joy is one of the greatest shoegazer bands out, that wall of noise lead by its two female band members Jasamine White-Gluz and Laura Lloyd and their long headbanging blonde locks.  For many years, White-Gluz actually performed with her back to the crowd, kind of like an early Jim Morrison.  Coming out into the spotlight with more assurance, No Joy has adopted a stronger persona, and the album shows that.  Recorded in White-Gluz’ Little Italy apartment, the sound is at once more secure yet still intimate.  Best bet:  See them live.  (Ya gotta come to Pittsburgh).  I recommend them.  I haven’t stopped listening to them.
