The Sad Side Of Love: Benjamin’s Brother – “Story About A Broken Heart”
Benjamin’s Brother
“Story About A Broken Heart”
Like The First Time
Finally, a song, a video, lyrics that reflect how I feel. Wow. Joseph Bach is the mastermind behind Benjamin’s Brother; creating all the music, lyrics and recordings along with producer Gil Lewis. And what a talent he is. Think Bright Eyes or Suljan Stevens or Damian Rice. This is the music to listen to when you feel like no one understands that pain you’re feeling. And the video: directed by Israeli directing duo, Too Short for Modeling, the video is so strange, reminding me of the novels of Murakami. Looking for that something within that shines but only at the most inappropriate times. The lyrics are powerful, and Bach’s voice is out of this world.
As much as I wanted
As much as I cared
As much as I needed
From you to understand
As much as I loved you
As much as you didn’t love me back
You want to let go now
And put me in your pastWhen we’ll grow old
We’d think about
All the lies that we’ve told
Broken promises
Hatred and shame
Mixed up in the flame of lustNow as much as we want to
Put it all behind
There’re some things to talk about
But please
I don’t wanna fight
I just wanna let you know
I’m willing to stay
Just hear me out love
All I want is
For you to trust me
When I say thatWhen we’ll grow old
We’d think about
All the lies that we’ve told
Broken promises
Hatred and shame
Mixed up in the flame of lust
Let me go somewhere and cry. I love this song.
