The Thermals

“My Heart Went Cold”

We Disappear

The Thermals (Hutch Harris, Kathy Foster, and Westin Glass) are a post-pop-punk trio from pre-Portlandia-Portland, Oregon.  The band was formed in 2002 and has since released six records and toured fifteen countries. The Thermals and Saddle Creek have a long history of sleeping on floors together.  Now they have released their seventh album on Saddle Creek, which is a great match for the two of them.  The Thermals are just a damned great band. Kurt Braunohler has stated that The Thermals “are best at making songs you put on mixtapes named ‘Drunken Sing-alongs When You’re Sad.’ They specialize in late-night, secret conversations about feeling simultaneously romantic and resentful over being raised Catholic. They’re the soundtrack to breaking glass, and an ode to the beauty of brokenness.”  And We Disappear is an intensely personal album, but tremendous.  God, The Thermals are tremendous.  And they’re on tour.  See them.  SEE THEM!!!!!!
