HNAF: Empire of the Sun Returns with the Surreal and Captivating ‘Ask That God’ + New Music Video
For eight years, fans of Empire of the Sun have eagerly awaited new material from the visionary duo of Emperor Steele and Lord Littlemore. Their patience is rewarded with the release of “Ask That God,” available now via Capitol Records/EMI Australia.
This album immerses listeners in a kaleidoscopic universe where reality and fantasy blend seamlessly, creating a holistic musical adventure. The fourth age of Empire of the Sun is a testament to this fusion, with the surreal reigning supreme. “This body of work represents the greatest shift in consciousness our world has ever seen, and that’s reflected in the music,” says Lord Littlemore.
Emperor Steele elaborates, “We are nothing more than conduits, gathering experience and finding what is meant for the Empire to find. These songs have wings, and once they are released, they will fly and find a home with souls all over the planet.”
Building on the momentum of recent singles “Cherry Blossom,” “Changes,” and “Music On The Radio,” their latest single “The Feeling You Get” encapsulates a paradox of emotions. “Sometimes you don’t know what it is, you don’t know what you do or why you do it….it’s just the feeling you get,” says Emperor Steele of the new track, describing it as a nostalgic 80’s British pop anthem that gets under your skin.
Lord Littlemore adds, “Songs can speak for words we can’t find. This song speaks to the listener, reminding them it’s never too late to get out there, have experiences, and make memories.”
The album’s visuals, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Michael Maxxis, are an immersive journey into surreal realms. Maxxis, known for his evocative storytelling, teamed up with award-winning new media artist AUJIK to craft a striking visual odyssey. Filmed amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Thailand, the video for “The Feeling You Get” invites viewers on a visually stunning, cinematic adventure that captivates with its otherworldly allure.
