Ghost Piss Unveils ‘Dream Girl’ This Friday: A Sonic Journey Through Growth and Evolution
From New York City to Richmond, and deep into Oregon’s forests, Ghost Piss’s music has evolved alongside its creator, River Allen. With each new setting, River’s DIY sound has matured, embracing fresh influences and reflecting the personal growth experienced during their 20s. Their debut album, “Dream Girl,” along with their third music video, “Rude Dudes,” celebrates these transformations. New album ‘Dream Girl’ releases this Friday, May 3, 2024, via Sockhead Records.
River’s musical journey began when they were three, sparked by a piano their mother found discarded on the street. This self-taught musician’s unique style, cultivated through various life phases, led to over 100 nationwide performances before releasing their first EP, ‘Blushing,’ on Brooklyn’s Styles Upon Styles label in 2021. Ghost Piss’s adaptable sound has meshed well with a diverse mix of artists, including The Space Lady, Barrie, Sporting Life, and Fuck U Pay Us.
Balancing performances at NYC dance venues and gardening at The Lot Radio with botany work for the National Park Service in Oregon, River has crafted a playful and deeply personal Electro Pop sound. Ghost Piss blends catchy mainstream pop hooks, robust house beats, and the minimalist style of River’s favorite composer, Erik Satie, employing repetition as a tool for progression and meditation. River’s expertise with the MC-505 is showcased in “Dream Girl,” pushing the equipment to its fullest potential.
We are super-excited to hear the new album this coming Friday!
