I knew 2018 was going to be a good year for music, if for nothing else.  And today has proved it.  That is the release of a new single by Ladytron.  “Animal” is all that could be expected from this great electronica band, if not even more.  Remixed by Vince Clarke of Erasure fame, “Animal” has all the darkness to be expected from this band (I love the line, “We are more like you”, sung with that scary conviction, followed by “all because you know we are animals”).  (A miniature “Island of Dr. Moureau”)  Originating in Liverpool, the band, made up of Helen Marnie, Daniel Hunt, Mira Aroyo and Reuben Wu relentlessly pushed boundaries, carving out new sonic and conceptual space and refusing to abide by formula or trend.  This single proves that.  This is uncompromising and beautiful.
