The Beths Unleash Jangle Anthem “Metal” & Announce ANTI-Signing + World Tour

New Zealand’s guitar-pop mavens The Beths—vocalist Elizabeth Stokes, guitarist Jonathan Pearce, bassist Benjamin Sinclair, and drummer Tristan Deck—have just inked their deal with ANTI- and dropped “Metal,” their first fresh track since Expert in a Dying Field (Deluxe). Driven by Stokes’s urgent vocals and whirlwind 12-string riffs, “Metal” rips into themes of bodily fragility and fierce self-curiosity over a propulsive jangle-rock engine.
Stokes explains, “After touring nonstop and facing health scares, I wrote ‘Metal’ as a celebration of simply being alive. It’s about marveling at this ‘broken machine’ we call the body, even as we wrestle with our inner critics.”
To bring “Metal” to life, director Nespy 5euro conceived a towering DIY Frankenstein—equal parts cute and colossal—symbolizing our shared need for empathy rather than fear. It’s a perfect visual companion to The Beths’ razor-sharp lyrics and fizzing guitars.
