Cryogeyser Unveils Self-Titled Album, Drops Mesmerizing Single “Stargirl” with Lance Bangs-Directed Video
Los Angeles trio Cryogeyser has officially announced their self-titled new album, set for release on February 14th, 2025, and it’s already shaping up to be a landmark moment for the band. Alongside the announcement, they’ve unveiled the spellbinding single “Stargirl”, a slow-burning exploration of impermanence and grief, accompanied by a visually stunning video directed by the legendary Lance Bangs.
With guitarist/vocalist Shawn Marom weaving poetic reflections on love, loss, and the fleeting nature of connection, “Stargirl” pulses with raw emotion, pairing ethereal melodies with a meditative tempo. The song, like much of the upcoming album, grapples with the inescapable truth that grief is a path we must walk through, not around. The single follows a series of standout tracks, including “Sorry,” “Blue Light,” and “Fortress”, which have already earned glowing praise from outlets like Brooklyn Vegan, FLOOD Magazine, PunkNews, and more.
Marom shared their deeply personal connection to “Stargirl”, calling it their “most cherished song.” Written just weeks after the band’s last album, it has evolved over time with contributions from everyone they’ve loved. “For me, ‘Stargirl’ is like time traveling—it’s meant so many things to me, and I wonder what it will mean to all of you,” Marom reflects. “At the foot of our next record, of songs from near and far that time traveled to get here, we’re (finally) releasing ‘Stargirl.’”
The album, produced and engineered by drummer Zach CapittiFenton, marks a transformative chapter for Cryogeyser. Since their 2019 debut Glitch, the trio—rounded out by bassist Samson Klitsner—has continuously redefined their sound. On this record, they’ve pushed their signature mix of gritty guitars, lush pop melodies, and dreamy soundscapes to bold new heights, crafting an intimate and cathartic listening experience. The result is an album that explores themes of transformation, longing, and resilience with breathtaking intensity.
“This album is about heat,” Marom explains. “Capturing ice and holding it forever—even as it melts—knowing you’re burning but staying in orbit.” Through shimmering melodies and surreal soundscapes, Cryogeyser invites listeners into an emotional universe that is equal parts visceral and hopeful. Each song encapsulates the band’s ethos of curiosity and fearless exploration, turning grief into something tender, transformative, and alive.
To celebrate the album’s release, Cryogeyser will embark on an expansive North American headline tour, beginning March 27th in Santa Ana, CA. The run includes a stop at Los Angeles’ Lodge Room on March 28th and Brooklyn’s Baby’s All Right on April 13th. Marom recently wrapped a successful solo tour opening for Wednesday (Karly Hartzman solo), which included several sold-out shows, building even more anticipation for the band’s return to the stage.
With Cryogeyser, the trio has crafted a work of art that burns with emotional truth, sonic bravery, and the kind of transformative power that lingers long after the final note. February 14th can’t come soon enough.
