The Quieter Side of Pandemonium: The New Tarot – “Ghost”

The New Tarot

“Ghost”

Stella

This is a band of so many faces.  The lead song on their new album, “Stella” is so different from the new song, “Ghost” (or is it?). The New Tarot  is a post-genre indie alternative band that was born out of the heat of the great cosmic explosion (just like everything else) and based out of Brooklyn, NY (just like, well, everything else.) The project is fronted by the spooky and sweet Walker sisters, Monika (vocals/guitar) and Karen (vocals/keyboard). After a few languid years studying robots and classical music composition, respectively, the two officially joined forces in the spring of 2014.  “The New Tarot” (or just “TNT”) seemed to form itself around the siblings, and their dreams to combine Machines, Magick and Music began to grow with them. Soon enough, they had convinced three amazing musicians to join their cause; Chas Langston (celebrated British drummer), Beth Callen (coolest-ever lead guitarist, who doubles as Slash in Guns n’Roses Cover band) and Dave Kahn (bassist whose own prog-rock band “Wahrus” is making waves themselves). Together, the band creates and experiments with human and universal archetypes through their music. Their stories are filled with equal parts chaos and harmony, loss and love, satire and empathy. Their songs are so “witchy”, it is almost scary.  This live performance of “Ghost” is so powerful, and it’s just the two of them playing.  No doubt, the Witchy Walker sisters show their total talents in this live cliff.  The Walker sisters make more noise as a twosome than most bands do fully electrified.  This is still the music of Pandemonium, just the quieter side.
