God I love this band of ruffians. Featuring Andrew Fearn and Jason Williamson, Sleaford Mods is a great synth punk band known for their abrasive, minimalist musical style and embittered explorations of modern British culture, and working class life, delivered in Williamson’s East Midlands accent. This band would fit perfectly in Youngstown, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and other working class towns in the USA. What they deal with is the same problems facing northern working class. The mix of politics and dancing beat is perfect. The attitude reminds me of Heaven 17, “(We Don’t Need This) Fascist Groove Thing”, “The Politics of Dancing” (Re-Flex), and especially Wire. Why are Americans afraid to address these problems? Thank god that Sleaford Mods address these problems, and make it danceable.
